Footprints (Lent 5B)

What does it mean to follow Jesus?

In John, it says “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also.” Yet it’s the details of how we follow that can be complicated. Drawing from the “Footprints” poem where Jesus walks beside us, let’s look at how we walk with Jesus.

Place your favorite pair of shoes on a photocopier and reduce it several times at increments of 10% (90%, 80%, 70%, etc.) Cut them out and arrange them like they are walking away from you. We’ll begin with the smallest because it is the pair that puts you closer to God on the path from where you stand.

Write the most important Scripture passage to you on the left one. Then on the right one, write how it affects your life. Continue to do this with your second favorite on the next pair and so on. Then take a picture of the footprints to keep in your files that you can reflect back on.
