Two mites (Proper 27B)

I realize the Gospel refers to the widow as giving more in her two mites because she gave out of her poverty when the wealthy only gave because it was required. But let’s not look at the percentage of money given or the appearances aspect. Let’s go back to the offering of Cain and Abel. They gave of equal worth from the same economic situation, but Abel gave willingly so his was accepted by God when Cain’s was not.

Depending on your artistic ability, draw an alms box or offering plate near the bottom of a sheet of paper. On another sheet of unlined paper, write what it is you freely give to God: money, prayer, service to others. Then cut two circles out of the paper where the writing will overflow and glue them onto the page with your drawing.
